Kyivstar turns Mobile Money into a full-scale mobile app


Kyivstar’s e-payment service Mobile Money is now available as a standalone mobile app for the smartphones Android and iOS. The app has kept the full functionality of its web-based counterpart. The new interface allows making quick payments for utilities, internet and TV services, bills and fines, as well as buy cosmetic products, repay a loan or top up a bank card, all using nothing but a smartphone. This means you can pay for your bills or purchases online whenever and wherever you are. The service uses subscriber’s mobile account for all transactions, debiting it for the required amount.

Mobile Money launched in June 2013 and has been tried out by more than 200 thousand unique users to date who made a total of over 1.5 million transactions.

Topping up a payment card is the most popular service chosen by Mobile Money users, followed by micropayments, in-game payments and payments for other entertainment and information services. The third most popular service is paying for internet providers’ services.

Taras Gorkun, head of mobile finance and treasury department at Kyivstar: “Mobile Money website had more than 1,5 million visitors. I’m convinced that mobile app will expand service’s user base, becoming an easy and fast payment tool. Since its launch, we’ve much expanded the range of available services, for which you can pay using your mobile money. Today, there are more than 750 of those on the list and Kyivstar is still working on assortment enhancement day by day.”

According to Kyivstar data, 3.5% of the service’s users make payments through their tablets, 11% – using their mobile phones, while the remaining 85.5% choose to go with their desktop computers.

Intuitive user interface of the mobile app make mobile payments easier than ever before. User is only required to enter payment details in the required fields to perform a transaction. Mobile Money service is free of charge and is available to all Kyivstar customers on prepaid plans.
